For you is ranked. A post scores on how recent it is and how quickly people are reacting to it: likes, comments and shares in the hours after it was posted, not the total forever. A post from someone with six followers can beat one from someone with six hundred.
Following is everyone you follow, newest first, with nothing in between.
What helps
- Say something specific. “Fixed a race condition in my booking API” travels; “working hard” does not.
- Tag accurately, so it reaches people who care about that topic.
- Reply to your own comments. Conversation counts.
What does not
Posting the same thing repeatedly, asking for likes, and rings of accounts liking each other. Repeated awards from the same person are worth less each time, by design.
