The official syllabus and past papers
Everything starts here. Read the syllabus until you know it, then read ten years of papers against it.
Do this: Map every past prelims question from three years to a line of the syllabus.
- 2
NCERT foundations
History, geography, polity and economy from classes 6 to 12. Most toppers start here.
- 3
Polity and governance from the source
Read the Constitution and how laws are actually made, not just summaries.
- 4
Current affairs from primary sources
Government releases, the Economic Survey and the Budget are what questions are framed from.
- ArticlePress Information BureauGovernment of India
- DocsEconomic Survey and Union BudgetMinistry of Finance
Do this: Keep a one-page note per month linking each big story to the syllabus.

Answer writing and the mains
Mains is a writing exam. Practise structure, examples and timing from the first month.
Do this: Write one answer a day and get it reviewed by a peer on DevLearn.
Learning this with others is easier.
Ask questions when you're stuck, find people on the same path, and track your progress on DevLearn.
