Mentors lists members who turned on “Open to mentor”, ranked by skills you share and by who actually turns up: helps completed and their rating as a helper.
Asking one sends your request straight to them rather than to everyone. If they cannot take it, it is still visible to others who can.
To become one, turn on Open to mentor on your profile and write one line about what you will help with.
