Deleting your account

What goes, what stays, and why some of it stays.

You can delete your account from Settings. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

What is deleted

  • Your profile, avatar, bio, skills, education, experience, projects and achievements.
  • Your posts, comments, likes, saves, questions, answers and resources.
  • Your requests and offers, messages, follows, RSVPs, notifications and XP.
  • Your sign-in itself, so the email address can sign up again later as a new member.

What stays, and why

  • Other people's content is not rewritten. If someone answered your question, their answer is theirs; a thread that lost half its words would make the site useless to read.
  • Moderation records about reports you were involved in, so a member who leaves and returns does not arrive with a clean slate.
  • Aggregate counts that do not name you, such as how many people were on a campus.

If you want your account gone but your answers to stay useful to the people who asked, delete the specific things first, then the account.
